From the initial sampling of suspected harmful building materials to the selective deconstruction of buildings to the land recycling of industrial wasteland, at Gibs, experts from a wide range of disciplines work together in order to find economical and sustainable solutions for our clients. From the initial planning stages to the approval inspection of a structure, our knowledgeable coordinators monitor all project steps for compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

Tiefbau und Geotechnik
  • Concept preparation and development of feasible solutions addressing the needs of our clients, assessment in terms of technical feasibility and building legislation, and development of alternative approaches, if required
  • Field surveys for suspected contaminants (drilling, sounding, and excavation test pits for sampling of soil, soil air, groundwater) as a planning basis for determining the extent of a construction project and for providing reliable cost estimation
  • Preparation of approval documents
  • Preparation of bidding documents and assessment of quotes
  • Preparation of quality assurance plans for services to be rendered by both internal and external monitoring bodies
  • On-site site management, monitoring for proper performance of all work, invoice verification and cost control, monitoring of on-site disposal using the electronic waste verification procedure
  • Coordination of monitoring for compliance of occupational health and safety specifications
Building Restoration and Deconstruction
  • Site visits, inspection of buildings for harmful substances, and recording of room inventory and dimensions
  • Collection and assessment of available documents and maps
  • Representative sampling of mineral building structure regarding the declaration of waste volumes in compliance with current waste legislation, specific sampling of suspected building components for harmful substances, e.g. asbestos, PCB, PCP, DDT, heavy metals, PAH, etc. to ensure proper separation, and planning of required occupational health and safety measures
  • Preparation of deconstruction concepts aimed at the selective removal of components for recycling, reuse, or disposal
  • On-site site management, performance of mandatory declaration analysis, monitoring of proper on-site disposal using the electronic waste verification procedure
  • Coordination of monitoring for compliance of occupational health and safety specifications
Land Recycling and Land Management
  • Construction site clearance in terms of legacy pollution, subsoil-related risks and UXO-related risks at current and former military installations, arms plants and ammunition holding areas, and industrial and commercial sites
  • Restoration and containment of legacy pollution through treatment, relocation, sealing or encapsulation, hydraulic protection incl. monitoring, excavation, and disposal
Site Coordination, Occupational Health and Safety
  • BGR 128 and TRGS 524: preparation of health and safety plans for work in contaminated areas and appointment of expert coordinator
  • TRGS 519 (asbestos) and TRGS 521 (man-made mineral fibers): preparation of health and safety plans for work in contaminated areas and appointment of expert coordinator
  • Construction Site Ordinance: preparation of health and safety plans, advance notice/letter of intent and documents required for the future operation of all types of underground engineering projects and remediation projects, and appointment of health and safety coordinator
